F/W ’13: A Season of Vivid, Versatile Color
Summer has officially arrived, and we’re completely wrapped up in all of its splendor! After a long and frigid winter, we’re finally able to whip out our swimsuits, catch some much-needed rays and simply bask in the glorious warm weather! We must admit, the brisk months of winter are hardly on our radar. But those in the trend-setting realm are always ahead of the curve, and have unveiled the essential colors for fall—it’s time for us fashion wannabes to catch up! So fast forward to chillier times (even if it’s just for a few moments) and get excited about the alluring hues in store for gals and guys—after all, we need to be on the lookout for fall must-have colors when it comes to our eyewear.
According to the Pantone Color Institute, as our moods shift with the changing seasons, so do the pigments, allowing for versatility and newfound experimentation. Boasting a balanced combination of deepened sophisticated tones with livelier washes, the palette for women is all about harmonization with hints of unexpected juxtaposition. Familiar green tones of yellowy Linden Green and opulent Emerald (aka the color of the year), continue to reign supreme, and pair perfectly with the relaxing and grounding Mykonos Blue. Likewise, rich Acai purple melds well with a variety of other sensual colors—try sizzling Samba red for a dramatic finish, citrus Koi orange for a pop of dazzling delight, or Vivacious, a feminine fuchsia, for cheerful zest. Rounding out the palette are anchoring tones of dark Carafe brown and Turbulence gray—chic alternatives to basic black. Acting as a the cornerstone of the selection, Deep Lichen Green, a lush neutral green hue, captures both the vibrant and neutral ends of the season’s color spectrum.
Embracing a more unisex vibe, the palette for men is, not surprisingly, almost identical to that for women. Emerald remains a strong force, especially when mixed with classic Linden Green and Mykonos Blue. Deep Lichen Green, Turbulence and Carafe serve as staple swatches, providing a sense of calm against dynamic Acai, Samba, Koi and Beaujolais, a full-bodied wine red that adds masculine elegance to the assortment.
