Polaroid Eyewear Celebrates 75 Spec-tacular Years

Polaroid Eyewear reached a milestone last week—its 75th anniversary! And there was no better way to celebrate than to throw a star-studded event filled with shady visitors. Polaroid Eyewear did just that, transforming The Museum of Modern Art in New York City into a sunglass-lover’s paradise. After all, the gorgeous location was only fitting for such an affair, as The MoMA is home to an original pair of 1946 Polaroid Eyewear sunglasses.

Under glowing sphere lights, and amid a sleek black and white setting, about 1,000 people from around the world joined to revel in Polaroid Eyewear’s success—and, more importantly, in its exciting new Polaroid Plus spring 2013 collection, bursting with sunnies designed with urban influences and created with the latest polarized technology.  Some A-listers even decided to try out the Polaroid Plus shades, rocking them throughout the evening.

All eyes were on two dashing dudes—amazing celebrity stylist Robert Verdi was all smiles as he sported his sunnies, while hilarious fashion personality Carson Kressley ingeniously paired his silk scarf and dapper suit with aviators. The ladies were also in on trend—gorgeous singer Neon Hitch added flair to her white gown with orange-rimmed frames that matched her vibrant hair, and actress and comedian Aisha Tyler looked super cool in her all-black ensemble with chic shades. Other big names, like Whitney Port, Adam Driver and DJ trio “The Misshapes,” also made appearances. Indeed, it was an eyewear evening to remember!

When spring rolls around, you’ll definitely want to check out shades from the Polaroid Plus collection. They’ll be available in optical shops, at Solstice Sunglasses and in department stores.
