Faves from New York Fashion Week

With all of our energy focused on merely surviving these frigid and dreary months, it’s hard to believe the fashion realm already has us swooning over the fabulous trends fit for next fall/winter. Over the past two weeks, the world’s top designers, with their amazing collections in tow, took New York City by storm for the one and only Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Aside from the to-die-for apparel, we were of course beyond thrilled to see our favorite outfit enhancer—eyewear, duh!—showering the runways. So set your sights on the sumptuous specs and sunnies that are sure to make eye-popping statements in the coming season!

The brilliant Michael Kors brought his chic, simplistic styles to life with not only striking color, but also futuristic sunwear. Sleek wraparounds—which were also spotted at the Anna Sui show—dramatic shields and semi-rimless shades in metallic silver, jet black, fresh white and bright yellow hues added ultramodern edge to almost every look. And we can’t forget Nautica’s bold use of streamlined rectangular shades with blacked-out lenses.

Meanwhile, big names like Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, DKNY and Tory Burch focused on feminine flair, playing with both exaggerated and demure cat-eye silhouettes, soft rounds, as well as glossy brow-bar additions and glitzy temple embellishments.

Vibrant pigments lit up the Anna Sui, DKNY and Nautica catwalks, as splashes of cherry red, elegant emerald, rich amber, neutral beige, electric blue and tantalizing teal introduced zesty appeal to these varying frames.

Kenneth Cole and Nautica gave the classic aviator frame a refreshing facelift with modernized teardrop shapes, colored and mirrored lenses, metal accents, and heavy browline and bridge emphasis.

Lastly, fierce flash effects and reflective lens treatments infused a sense of mystery into the sultry sunnies seen at the Kenneth Cole, Nautica and Tory Burch shows.

  1. First off I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Appreciate it!
