Stars’ Eyewear Go for Oscar Gold

We can’t believe it—award season is over! The 85th Annual Academy Awards topped off the two-month-long stint Sunday night, as Tinseltown’s best flooded Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre with one goal in mind: to snag an infamous Oscar! But only some were lucky enough to strike gold. Ben Affleck’s brilliant film Argo stole the show, winning best picture. To boot, Daniel Day-Lewis earned Best Actor for his performance in Lincoln. And Jennifer Lawrence—who casually played off her clumsy tumble to the stage, further proving her cool—stole Best Actress for her talent in Silver Linings Playbook, among others.

Aside from the exciting wins and emotional acceptance speeches—not to mention Seth MacFarlane’s interesting jokes and skits—we can’t forget the fabulous fashions spotted on the red carpet. Of course we swooned over the ladies’ gorgeous gowns and gents’ sleek suits. But we were more stoked to see our favorite celebs rocking eyewear!  A slew of A-listers chose to pump up their looks with specs. Dapper rounds with keyhole bridges, geek chic frames, rimless silhouettes and sleek rectangular shapes were trending, as well as tortoise, metallic, jet black and two-toned colorations.

Meanwhile, other stars stayed shady in varying sunwear styles! Colored, mirrored and blacked-out lenses proved popular, as Clubmaster-inspired sunnies, wayfarers, shields, aviators and cat-eyes made striking appearances.
